FILMMAKER STATEMENT
PUPPY LOVE: Tails of the city is a love letter to dogs and the communities they build, a tribute to the joy and hard work of being a dog parent, and an invitation to reflect on how rescue dogs transform our lives in unexpected ways.
My own dog Caden, a 4-year-old Terrier-mix that I adopted at 6 months old, has taught me compassion and patience in ways I never imagined. Rescue dogs don’t just get saved, they save us right back, healing us in ways we often don’t expect. As a first-time dog parent, I’ve been deeply moved by the profound bond between humans and their dogs, and through PUPPY LOVE: Tails of the City, I hope to inspire others to be the better humans their dogs already believe them to be.
This intimate film explores the emotional and practical journey of dog ownership in New York City, shining a light on the joys, challenges, and deep connections that shape the lives of dogs and their humans. It honors our experiences, raises awareness about the vital work of rescue organizations, and creates space to discuss the important, often overlooked aspects of dog parenting rarely seen in mainstream media.
